Creating a gift card and put it on sell like other product in Magento 2 is actually quite simple when using Gift Card extension. Just follow our step-by-step instructions below and you’ll have a gift card product in the blink of an eye.

We will focus on the basic parts, but you can set up based on your preference. Let’s start!

Step 1: Navigate to your Magento admin backend > Catalog > Products > Add Product > Gift Card Product

Step 2: Choose the Attribute Set as Gift card

Step 3: Fill out the necessary details for your gift card product, such as: Product name, SKU, Quantity, etc.

Step 4: Scroll down to the Gift Card Information section and enter the required fields.

• Gift Code Pattern: This is the common pattern of generated card codes.

• Gift Card Type: Choose among 3 options.

  • eGift (virtual type)
  • Print-at-home (physical type)
  • Mail (combined type)

• Gift Card Amount: Set the Amount and Price of a gift card in this section.
• Allow Amount Range: Choose Yes if you want to set limitation for using this card. You can set the minimum and maximum amount for customers when using the gift card.
• Price Percentage: The price that will be displayed in the frontend equals Price Percentage x Amount entered by customers. In case you leave this field blank, the default will be applied as Price Percentage = 100%.
• Can Redeem: Choose Yes to allow customers redeem your gift card
• Expire After (days): Enter the number of days available for using this card. After that amount of time, the voucher will expire and have no value.
• Template: Choose a template design for your card.

Step 5: Configure the rest as you want and hit Save when you’re done.

How to Import Magento 2 Gift Cards

Magento 2 gift cards are another type of product. This means you can import and export them just like any other product. If you’ve ever imported or exported products in Magento 2, you’ll find it easy to do the same with gift cards, but if you haven’t, follow our guide below.

• Go to System > Import

In Entity Type, choose Products

Now, the system will display more sections. Select an import behavior from the 3 options given: Add/Update, Replace, and Delete.

Finally, select your file with gift card data to import to your Magento 2 store. Don’t forget to click the Check Data button on top right corner to see if your file is correct. If it doesn’t match, the system will notify you like this.

How to Export Magento 2 Gift Cards

Go to System > Export

Select Products for Entity field

Then, customize filters to export gift cards only. In case your gift cards are linked to a specific category, use that category as a filter. If you don’t do this step, the system will export gift cards along with all other products.
